Hi All!

I wanted to give you an update of the Arkansas trip and show you some pretty pictures. There's no way that the camera can capture the intensity of the color we saw, so try to use you imagination when you see these pictures and get an idea of how pretty this state is. Mindy and I spent most of our time outside of Mountain Home, at a lodge on the White River called Rim Shoals lodge. We fished the White River and gawked at scenery mostly, then drove over to the family property between Viola and Salem, about 40 minutes away. I found the country beautiful, the pace relaxed, the people simple and straightforward, and the atmosphere peaceful. At the end of the trip, Mindy and I drove to Branson, saw a bluegrass show, then found the old Veatch house. The people who live there now are very nice and actually invited us inside and gave us a tour of every room! Wow - what a flood of memories! I could have easily stayed an extra week and found myself thinking about doing this again sometime in the future. Something we all ought to think about.

I've grouped the photos into categories. These are shots from both Mindy's camera and mine. Click on the category below to get an idea of the trip.

Shots from the Car: Scenery at 60 mph often doesn't turn out well in the camera, but I selected the better photos and posted them here. Some are obviously not taken from the car window - on occasion we pulled off the road and took our time. These are all from Arkansas, I don't think I took any Missouri shots, although I noticed that the scenery was very different. Enjoy!

The River: Wouldn't you love to have this thing in your back yard? Wow - what a gorgeous river. I hear it's full of fish, although I didn't figure that out from experience. All the guys at work told me I should have hired a guide to catch fish. I had to go back to the office and sheepishly admit they were right. But on the other hand, trout at the grocery store are only $4-5/ pound. Think of all the money I saved!!

The Property - Beautiful Land: I was expecting oak trees and poison ivy so thick that Brer Rabbit could barely pass through. What I found was a very pretty land that doesn't induce claustrophobia at all. Check out these pics. And if you want a page sized map to print off and see, I made one and crammed all the detail I could think of onto it. I've had some trouble scaling this map from the web page though. If your browser makes the map very small on the page, try re-scaling the print at 165%.

The Property - Evidence of Trespass: Wouldn't you know it? We're not the only one's that like this land. Here is what we found about those who have enjoyed our property while we weren't there.

The Old Hamilton Place: Remember that old house we saw from Jody and Jacks camera back in 1989? Mindy and I checked it out and this is what we found.

Branson: Nostalgia! Didn't take many pictures here. I didn't recognize Branson at all (surprised?), but we did take a few of the Veatch house. All shots are from the outside - the new owners were apologetic about the messy house when they gave us a tour and I didn't think they'd appreciate us taking shot after shot of the inside.

Hope you liked the tour! I really wish all of you could have gone, it was alot of fun. We hit the colors and weather just right. If you liked any of these photos and want to print them, don't try to save and print them from the web page. Let me know and I'll send you your favorites in an email. All these photos on the web page have been compressed and will be very grainy in print. Mindy and I have the originals in our computers.

Thanks,
Art
